After a credit provider approves the issuance of a card to an account, the cardholder may use it for transactions with a merchant. Credit card receivables are calculated each month and delivered via a statement from the creditor to the account holder. Interest is calculated and charged by the creditor. If payments are missed, credit card receivables may be given to a collection agency for credit card debt collection. The credit card receivables market also includes a viable student credit card receivables segment. Additionally, a creditor may decide to sell credit card receivables to a debt buyer who then recovers the the amount owed through debt collection strategies.
