QuadraMed Corporation (Amex: QD) today announced that Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County (MHSC), Rock Springs, Wyoming, has awarded the company a contract to implement its enterprise Revenue Cycle Management solution and Health Information and Identity Management software. All QuadraMed products will interface with the hospital’s open source clinical system to provide an end-to-end electronic medical record (EMR).
The QuadraMed Revenue Cycle Management solution includes a full suite of leading-edge applications to help improve the hospital’s revenue cycle from registration and patient accounting processes to final billing at discharge. The benefits MHSC can achieve are a reduction in A/R days and claims denials, as well as more efficient workflow across the enterprise. QuadraMed received its third consecutive Best in KLAS® award for Acute Care Registration, Scheduling and Patient Accounting in the 2006 “Top 20 Best in KLAS Awards” released in December.
QuadraMed Facility Coding, a Web-native Health Information Management (HIM) application, will be installed with the revenue cycle solution to help facilitate proper and timely reimbursement for services, meet regulatory compliance requirements, and help improve coder accuracy and productivity.
To assist in the important area of patient identity management, MHSC will also implement QuadraMed Precise ID. Precise ID can enhance patient safety, speed patient registration, and further improve the hospital’s revenue cycle by preventing creation of duplicate patient medical records using a highly accurate probabilistic technology. When a duplicate record is created, Precise ID helps staff to quickly identify and correct the duplicate record in a timely manner.
According to David Paugh, MHSC Chief Financial Officer, “QuadraMed offered us a comprehensive solution to improve our revenue cycle management, particularly days in A/R. Coupled with its identity and health information management software, we believe QuadraMed will implement with little impact on our staff, and enable us to capitalize on the quality care we provide to improve our reimbursement for services.
“Sweetwater County is expected to continue to increase in population over the next several years and we’re preparing to provide the highest quality healthcare possible by deploying the right technology to meet the needs of our community.”
Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County is a 99-bed acute care, Level II Regional Trauma Center and the only hospital within 100 miles of Rock Springs. In 2006, the hospital undertook a major construction program to add 64,000 square feet and renovate another 54,000 square feet of existing space.
