Akcelerant, a provider of connected software technology to the financial services industry, announced today the successful completion of a SSAE 16 SOC 1 Type 2 audit. Annually, Akcelerant’s operating policies are audited by SAS 70 CPA, a licensed Certified Public Accounting Firm and one of the nation’s leading firms in this specialty. The firm’s final report shows Akcelerant to be in compliance with SSAE 16 SOC 1 Type 2 standards.
As part of the audit, a number of Akcelerant’s operating controls were tested. These controls include: environment security, data communications and transmission, application development, change management, disaster recovery preparedness, support operations, and more. The audit examined both the suitability of the design and operating effectiveness of each control, and showed all to be in compliance.
“As a growing company, we understand the importance of maintaining solid operating policies. Akcelerant is committed to continually enhancing the effectiveness of its operations in order to meet or exceed industry standards and instill confidence amongst its customers and business partners,” states Emily Steele, chief operating officer at Akcelerant.
As of June 15, 2011 the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) replaced the SAS 70 Type 2 audit with the SSAE 16 SOC 1 Type 2. SSAE 16 is a formal auditing standard designed to test the internal controls of service organizations and has become increasingly more important due to the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
