First Financial Federal Credit Union, one of New Jersey’s largest credit unions, has moved its credit card processing to TNB Card Services, TNB announced today.

First Financial, with more than $180 million in assets, has converted some 5,400 cardholder accounts to TNB, a leading provider of electronic payments processing services for credit unions nationwide. The credit union, with 34,000 members is the latest institution to turn to credit union-owned TNB for processing, in search of better service both for cardholders and for the credit union itself.

Founded in 1936, First Financial Federal Credit Union was known as Mon-Oc, for the two counties it serves, Monmouth and Ocean, until last year, when it changed its name to First Financial. It is community chartered and serves the two seaside counties through six branches located in Toms River, Barnegat, Howell, Neptune, Freehold, and Middletown. Based on total assets, First Financial is one of the top 15 out of nearly 200 credit unions in New Jersey.

When First Financial Federal Credit Union decided to change processors, president and CEO Issa Stephan drew on his previous experience with TNB when he was with another credit union.

“I worked with TNB for 10 years, and its commitment to clients is excellent,” Stephan said. “TNB’s high-quality service stands out among processors.”

Stephan added that by switching to TNB, First Financial Federal Credit Union can offer additional card features, such as a rewards program.

“We welcome First Financial Federal Credit Union to the TNB processing family,” said Dusty Bowers, senior vice president and national sales manager of TNB Card Services. “Based on Issa Stephan’s experience, they’re expecting top-quality service, and that is what we deliver to credit unions and to their members. We are partnering with them to deliver a much improved credit card product to their members and to profitably grow their portfolio.”
