Fair Isaac Corporation, the leading provider of analytics and decision management technology, today announced that it has partnered with MACH, one of the world’s leading providers of inter-operator solutions to the telecommunications and data industry, to offer telecommunications operators across the world enhanced protection against roaming fraud.
MACH, which provides data clearing for wireless carriers worldwide using the global system for mobile communications (GSM) standard, will install and operate a Fair Isaac RoamEx® roamer data exchanger network hub at its European data center to enhance its roaming fraud protection services and raise the standard for roaming procedures that can reduce the losses for GSM mobile operators.
Fair Isaac’s RoamEx solution, which currently processes 95 percent of all roaming call records for the North American wireless industry, offers operators near real-time exchange and visibility of roaming information of all types, regardless of provider network technology, service event or region. Better roaming call visibility enables quicker and more effective fraud detection, improved revenue assurance, reduced losses and increased roaming revenues.
“We are happy to be teaming up with Fair Isaac. Our partnership underlines MACH’s commitment to provide innovative services that secure the revenue streams of our clients within the GSM mobile community,” said Lars Torpe Christoffersen, Chief Executive Officer of MACH. “The coverage of the RoamEx solution in the Americas in particular gives our fraud protection service global reach — a key requirement for efficient and reliable fraud protection.”
“The partnership delivers clear benefits and opportunities for Fair Isaac, MACH and their respective customers,” said Mike Gandolfo, vice president of Fair Isaac’s Global Telecom solutions. “The agreement with MACH, the leading GSM data clearing provider with a strong presence in Europe and Asia, complements and extends RoamEx’s coverage of near real-time record exchange internationally, and helps to ensure consistently high levels of customer service.”
Mobile roaming fraud occurs when a subscriber who does not intend to pay moves from the home operator network to another operator network and takes advantage of the home operator’s lack of visibility of subscriber activity in the visited network. An individual roaming fraud incident can result in a loss of more than $1 million within a matter of a few days if not detected early enough.
RoamEx Roamer Data Exchanger is part of Fair Isaac’s Enterprise Decision Management (EDM) solutions that help telecommunications service providers guard against fraud and payment risk. The solution currently processes over two billion call detail records every month around the globe for more than 75 wireless networks.
