Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., L.P.A. (WWR), is pleased to announce that Associate Geoffrey J. Peters recently obtained an LL.M. in Bankruptcy from St. John’s University School of Law.
St. John’s University School of Law has the nation’s most extensive bankruptcy program. The LL.M. in Bankruptcy is the only program of its kind in the nation and is fully accredited. The intense, rigorous program includes more than two dozen specialized bankruptcy courses taught by leading practitioners, judges and academics. The program requires students to complete 30 credits and covers a broad range of legal disciplines to ensure that students see the interrelationship of bankruptcy to other substantive areas of law. To date, this exclusive program has had less than 50 graduates.
Alan Hochheiser, Managing Partner of WWR’s Bankruptcy department states, ‘”We are very proud of Geoff’s accomplishments. Geoff is the first attorney in the firm to obtain an LL.M. in Bankruptcy and this is a tremendous accomplishment.”
Mr. Peters practices in the Bankruptcy department of the Columbus office. He received his B.B.A. summa cum laude from Kent State University (1991), his J.D. from the Case Western University School of Law (1994) and most recently his LL.M. from the St. John’s University Law School (2007). A member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Mr. Peters is licensed in Ohio and New York and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court (Northern District of OH, Southern District of OH, Northern District of NY, Southern District of NY, Eastern District of NY, Western District of NY). He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and Beta Gamma Sigma. In 2006, Mr. Peters was recognized as an Ohio Rising Star by Cincinnati Magazine.
