DBA International celebrated its 10 year anniversary as a trade association in February at the Mirage in Las Vegas. With nearly 1400 attendees, over 100 exhibitors and brilliant programming, the conference, and the celebration of ten years as a trade association, was a huge success.
The association has grown from the concept of building a foundation of ethical standards to a fully functional non-profit association; the leader in the debt buying industry. DBA owes much of this success to its Executive Director Dennis Hammond and to Judy Hammond, CEO of the Debt Marketplace, our association management firm.
Dennis Hammond has advised the board that he is tendering his resignation as the Executive Director and that The Debt Marketplace; Inc. will no longer provide management services to DBA as of June 30th.: “It has been our privilege and honor to serve as both founders and executive director/association management firm for DBA International for over 10 years now. We are proud to have contributed to the growth of the organization and to its well-respected position in our industry” says Hammond.
Judy Hammond on behalf of Debt Marketplace added: “We have every confidence in the extremely knowledgeable Board of Directors of this association, and know that with their insight and strong leadership, this organization will continue to be the most important association serving the debt buying industry. Although we will no longer be active in the day-to-day operations of DBA International, we will always be proud to have been a part of the organization, and expect to be active volunteers, lending our expertise, knowledge or assistance as we can.”
Dr. Gary Wood, speaking for the DBA and its Board of Directors, commended the Hammonds on their energy, professionalism, and ethical contributions to the association. “Dennis had a vision and helped build a nationally respected association that is unequalled. Dennis and Judy are in a class by themselves. All of us associated with them thank them for their contributions and wish them the best in the future.”
DBA is in the process of seeking a new Executive Director and association management team. It is expected that DBA will introduce the new Executive Director and management team at the June Executive Retreat. Dr. Wood continues, “DBA is planning ambitiously for a new future. To flourish in the future, we must never rest on our past achievements; rather we must grasp those opportunities that the future brings. We expect to grow this successful association and take it to a new level of service to our members during the next ten years.”
The association will examine every facet of its needs at a strategic planning session taking place at the DBA Executive Retreat. Dr. Wood further stated that before and during the retreat he encourages suggestions from the membership that he and Board may consider during the strategic planning conference. “With the recent new name of the association, the hiring of Barbara Sinsley for the newly created position of General Counsel to DBA International and with guidance from a new executive director and management company, members can expect strong growth and innovation along with a strongly managed association that will explore challenges and opportunities and build on continued association successes.”
The board of directors is actively soliciting recommendations for both the position of Executive Director and the new association management company. Members are requested to contact Search Committee Chairman Stuart Blatt (stuartblatt@aol.com) or Gary Wood (gwood@cfsi.net) with recommendations
